      I saw the machine that bucket was off. I don’t know what it’s called, but it was something like I imagine your father’s draglines – on tracks and reaching out with a bent mast.

         It looks like an excavator bucket. Dragline buckets are on a system of chains so they can get that true dragging movement and are slung out via a cable.
